Mustache Pops Tutorial (with free template!)

He looks skeptical about having a mustache...

These are so much fun! So easy to make, and kids really love them. These would make great party favors or stocking stuffers. I made these and gave them out at Thanksgiving to Alex and two of my nieces that were there; there's something so cute about sweet little faces sporting a big honkin' mustache. We saw some cousins who were in town from Boston last weekend, and I gave one to their adorable son, too. (If you don't like mustaches, you can make big red lips instead; also hilarious on the right person).

Mustache Pop!!

Comically Large Lips Pop!!

I just drew the shapes freehand, but I traced them and scanned them so you can use them, too!

Here's what you need to make your own:

Craft felt sheets like these (I got mine at Michaels):

And of course, a bag of these:

The template and scissors:

I drew them in two sizes

You can probably figure it out from here. Cut out the shapes, poke a hole in the shape, slide it onto a lollipop stick...hilarity ensues! You can either use the tip of your scissors to poke a very small hole or you can use a small craft hole punch. For the lips I put it right in the center, but for the mustaches I centered it but put it as low as I could; the mustache looked better that way when in use (i.e. closer to the nose).

It's easy to make a whole bunch!

The kids all loved them! It's hard to tell from the pictures, because obviously they can't really smile while enjoying a lollipop, but they thought they were really fun. I hope the kids in your life love them, too!

Even big kids like them:
